52 – Anomalisa, Hail, Caesar!, Son of Saul, Chi-Raq, The Danish Girl

Well, what can I say, it’s about time some of Andrew’s script writing reached the world. (Given it’s Andrew who writes these show notes, he’s now referring to himself in the third person. Fool.) After finding some old files, Andrew reads his top 20 films of all time from 2003, followed by a reading of the great script – Spud Deluxe.

Following that is the stuff you actually tuned in for: Our discussions of the films Anomalisa, Hail, Caesar! (that’s one film, not two films Hail and Caesar!), Son of Saul, Chi-Raq and The Danish Girl. So, a short rundown… animated midlife existential crisis film by Oscar winner Charlie Kaufman, 50’s studio system film by Oscar winners The Coen Bros., George Clooney, Frances McDormand, and co. Oscar winner for Best Foreign Language film Son of Saul. Honorary Oscar owner Spike Lee’s latest film about the rising gun violence in America, Chi-Raq. And finally, Bernadette gives her best rundown of the Oscar winning The Danish Girl. Lot’s of Oscar related films here. Hopefully that helps with the SEO.

There are slight spoilers for Anomalisa and The Danish Girl.

Andrew has been a film lover all of his life. For a while now he's been talking about how great films are and usually that's been directly to his wife, Bernadette. Now with AB Film Review everyone else in the world can listen to what Andrew has to say to his wife. Bernadette grew up renting videos from a Plains Video. She mostly hired out Cry Baby and wore the tape thin learning the lines to the John Waters classic. After a series of arguments in the car ride home with her husband, Andrew, the two decided to record their arguments and launch them into the world for everyone to listen to.
