Revelation Turns 20 – And Needs Your Help to Celebrate!

Perth’s Revelation Film Festival has been one of the great film festival mainstays within Australia. Every year, the festival delivers some of the most exciting, unique, interesting and truly brilliant slices of cinema that you’ll ever see. Many films shown at the festival are only available to be seen at the festival, making it just over a week of great, must see cinema experiences.

And what experiences there have been with the festival over the years. From the jaw dropping live score screening of Suspiria with the eternally great Goblin in attendance, to the screenings of Jim Henson’s works at the Perth Library – Revelation has really pushed the boundaries of what a film festival can do.

This year is the festivals 20th anniversary, and to help celebrate the anniversary a crowd funding campaign has been launched to help deliver the biggest and best festival yet.

2017 is set to be our biggest year to date as we celebrate 20 years of bringing the most adventurous signature-driven international independent cinema to Western Australian audiences.

As part of our celebrations we’re wanting to bring as much free or low-cost community based activities as we possibly can so everyone can get to experience a special piece of Rev loving!

For 2017 we’re planning:

  • A two-month pan-continental moving image art installation embracing emerging and established screen artists from Victoria and WA
  • Two weeks of free family screenings in Perth, Leederville and Fremantle
  • Free industry workshops and seminars
  • Site specific free architectural projections
  • A purpose-built 16mm micro-cinema featuring of manner of screening from the Rev archive
  • Live music in cinemas and venues across town

It’s all new and hybrid activity that falls through funding cracks and in most instances has no box office or admission income attached so to bring it to as many people as possible, we’d love to have your support.

20 grand for 20 years is what we’re looking for to enable us to bring the best and most diverse moving image events to WA!

Andrew has been a film lover all of his life. For a while now he's been talking about how great films are and usually that's been directly to his wife, Bernadette. Now with AB Film Review everyone else in the world can listen to what Andrew has to say to his wife. Bernadette grew up renting videos from a Plains Video. She mostly hired out Cry Baby and wore the tape thin learning the lines to the John Waters classic. After a series of arguments in the car ride home with her husband, Andrew, the two decided to record their arguments and launch them into the world for everyone to listen to.
