Ahh, welcome back? Are you still out there? How are you doing? Ok? It’s been a bit of a rough week hasn’t it? Lots of questions, no answers. Well, thankfully AB Film Review is here to provide more chaos. It’s unavoidable, we had to voice our opinion on the recent US election and
Emperor President-Elect Trump’s ascension to power. After that madness subsides, we then briefly touch on the reason why Andrew looks a bit questionable at the moment. Yep, it’s November which means it’s time for Movember. Andrew runs through what Movember is and why it’s a charity you should hop on supporting. As mentioned – the donation link is mobro.com/abfilmreview – and if you’re in need of assistance or are having a difficult time at the moment, then in Australia you can visit Lifeline or Beyond Blue for further assistance. Please check out Dwight Hurst’s show, The Broken Brain as well.
But hey… this is a film review podcast, you didn’t download it for politics discussions (although, if you were to download a show on politics, I highly recommend Like I’m A Six-Year-Old), so with that in mind… the films discussed in this episode are: The Handmaiden, the sexually charged epic from Park Chan-Wook, The Neon Demon by the master of controversy – Nicolas Winding Refn aka NWR, Hell or High Water alongside questions of who would vote for Trump in the film, The Meddler shows aging women can continue to have great roles, and finally – De Palma, a film (would you believe it?) about Brian de Palma and his work.
So, that’s about it folks. A big episode, some great films, our usual excessive swearing and shouting. Hopefully you’re motivated to check out these films after the week we’ve had. Look, the next four years will be rough for everyone, and sadly they’re going to be rougher for certain groups of people. Break down those walls and discuss the issues that the Trump presidency will bring to the world – get angry, get upset, be prepared. It’s going to be a long, hard fight and you can rest assured that we’ll be there for you if you need someone to talk to… with that in mind, hit us up on Facebook or Twitter or send us an email if you want to talk.
