Morgana Documentary Active on Kickstarter RIGHT NOW

Sorry, I didn’t mean to yell, but… the documentary Morgana is active on Kickstarter right now and at time of hitting ‘publish’ there are nine days left to support this great looking documentary. Supporting independent film is one of the best things you can do as a film watcher. Add the fact that this is an Australian film as well and there’s the extra brownie points you need.

What’s Morgana about though? Well, let’s let the Kickstarter do the talking…

‘Morgana’ is an artistic character portrait of a troubled 50 year old housewife, who re-invents herself as a sex-positive feminist porn star after spending 20 years in a loveless, sexless marriage.

Stuck in the suburbs of rural Australia, Morgana is an eccentric woman who struggles to fit into her role as a dutiful housewife and mother. After significant weight gain, she is ridiculed and ignored by her husband and loses her desired status as a ‘trophy wife’. At the age of 47 she finally gets a divorce, but is cast out by her conservative community and left completely alone to drift, nameless and stateless.

Desperately in need of touch and human contact, Morgana hires a male sex worker for one ‘last hurrah’ before ending it all.

After 15 years of loneliness and sexual isolation within her marriage, the encounter ignites a spark within her and she takes control of her life and begins the process of re-constructing her identity.

This looks to be one of the most exciting, interesting documentaries to come out of Australia in a long time. Covering a fascinating subject with a women team behind it, Morgana is a film that you’ll want to say ‘hey, I threw some money behind that’.

It’s currently sitting at $24,404 with a goal of $40,000 to be reached in 9 days and there are some great rewards for supporting the film. To help keep Morgana as independent as possible, head over to the links below to donate to the campaign:

Andrew has been a film lover all of his life. For a while now he's been talking about how great films are and usually that's been directly to his wife, Bernadette. Now with AB Film Review everyone else in the world can listen to what Andrew has to say to his wife. Bernadette grew up renting videos from a Plains Video. She mostly hired out Cry Baby and wore the tape thin learning the lines to the John Waters classic. After a series of arguments in the car ride home with her husband, Andrew, the two decided to record their arguments and launch them into the world for everyone to listen to.
