First Look at Robert Zemeckis’ Allied

Allied

Robert Zemeckis has always been a technically proficient director. His films have displayed some truly ground breaking special effects. Even in films like the throwaway What Lies Beneath and the underrated Flight, Zemeckis manages to implement moments filled with ‘how did they do that’ special effects within the greater human story. With that in mind, the first look at his upcoming film Allied has been released.

Starring Oscar nominee Brad Pitt as Max Vatan, and Oscar winner Marion Cotillard as Marianne Beausejour, Allied is the story of Vatan (an intelligence officer) and Beausejour (a French Reistance fighter) who encounter each other as Vatan is on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Given the last time Zemeckis strayed into the territory of ‘war films’ he won an Oscar (Forrest Gump), we could very well see him at the Kodak theatre again come Oscar season.

Allied also stars Jared Harris, Lizzy Caplan and Matthew Goode. It opens in Australian cinemas on December 26.

Andrew has been a film lover all of his life. For a while now he's been talking about how great films are and usually that's been directly to his wife, Bernadette. Now with AB Film Review everyone else in the world can listen to what Andrew has to say to his wife. Bernadette grew up renting videos from a Plains Video. She mostly hired out Cry Baby and wore the tape thin learning the lines to the John Waters classic. After a series of arguments in the car ride home with her husband, Andrew, the two decided to record their arguments and launch them into the world for everyone to listen to.
