David Stratton: A Cinematic Life Official Trailer and Poster

If it weren’t for David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz, this website wouldn’t exist. Plain and simple as that. It’s no secret, but how Bernadette and myself (Andrew) met was through The Movie Show‘s old tan coloured forums where users like tiprat, ogden and pat would post about films and stuff. Thanks to the existence of the show, and the love for the heated discussions that David and Margaret would get into, Bernadette and I eventually managed to meet up and, well, things went from there.

Anyhow, this isn’t a history lesson in us. It’s a post about a new documentary by Sally Aitken (Getting Frank GehryStreets of Your Town) all about Australia’s greatest film critic, David Stratton. For anyone who has read his great, essential book I Peed on Fellini, the history of David Stratton and his love of cinema is one that is a true joy to hear. It seemed almost inevitable that this documentary would exist, and in a way it’s a wonder it’s taken so long to come out, but we’re thankful it’s here. It hits Australian cinemas on March 9th 2017, with talks of Q&A sessions being held around Australia.

Check out the trailer below, and get a taste of the likes of *deep breath* Nicole Kidman, Dr George Miller, Russell Crowe, Gillian Armstrong, Eric Bana, Judy Davis, Sam Neill, Geoffrey Rush, Jack Thompson, Warwick Thornton, and Jackie Weaver… and many more… that have such great admiration for David Stratton.

Andrew has been a film lover all of his life. For a while now he's been talking about how great films are and usually that's been directly to his wife, Bernadette. Now with the AB Film Review everyone else in the world can listen to what Andrew has to say to his wife.

Love this guy. Never met him, but he’d be fascinating to chat to.

    • He really is a fantastic guy to listen to. I wish I lived in Sydney as his ten year course on film history at one of the universities there sounds like it would be great.
