87 – Thor: Ragnarok, Brad’s Status, My Life as a Zucchini, The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected), Annabelle: Creation, A Ghost Story, War for the Planet of the Apes

Another jam packed episode as the blockbusters and the indies clash on this episode with films that are old and new getting discussed. Starting out with director Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok and its exploration of a man who has electricity in his fingers, we then move to the conundrum that is the modern white man by way of Ben Stiller in Brad’s Status. A french orphanage gets a look in with the Oscar nominated My Life as a Zucchini. Naturally, the spotlight can’t be away from the white male too long so we head to Noah Baumbach’s The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected). Dolls, creepy dolls, are given their moment in the darkness with the continuation of the Conjuring films in Annabelle: Creation. A quick detour to the Rooney Mara eats a pie flick A Ghost Story leads us to the climactic Apes film War for the Planet of the ApesBe aware that there are spoilers for Thor: Ragnarok and War for the Planet of the Apes.

Andrew has been a film lover all of his life. For a while now he’s been talking about how great films are and usually that’s been directly to his wife, Bernadette. Now with AB Film Review everyone else in the world can listen to what Andrew has to say to his wife.

Bernadette grew up renting videos from a Plains Video. She mostly hired out Cry Baby and wore the tape thin learning the lines to the John Waters classic. After a series of arguments in the car ride home with her husband, Andrew, the two decided to record their arguments and launch them into the world for everyone to listen to.
